Reopened in early 2025 after refurbishment, the Riad Farasha is a small four-room riad, fresh and quiet, a six-minute walk from the Saadian Tombs. A dipping basin at the back of the patio, a terrace overlooking the Kasbah rooftops, and a name that means butterfly.
Our verdict
The Riad Farasha plays a simple card and plays it well: that of a small, fresh house, in calm, in the south medina. The riad reopened at the start of 2025 after a refurbishment, and it comes through from the patio, all in white, blue zelliges at the base, painted doors, with a dipping basin at its middle to cool off. Four rooms only, coloured and sharp, around the court and upstairs, plus a sitting room on the patio. It is a pocket house, run by a present host who arranges the outings, and the welcome tops the comments.
The other asset has to do with the position, and it is precise. You are in the Kasbah, a six-minute walk from the Saadian Tombs, about ten from the El Badi palace and Jemaa el-Fna, in a side lane guests describe as very calm. The right compromise for anyone wanting the great monuments of the south medina within walking distance without sleeping in the din of the souks. On the roof, a panoramic terrace opens the view over the city in every direction, and stands as a breathing space on the way back from the visits.
The house owns its simplicity, in return. The name, Farasha, means butterfly, and the house makes it its motif, to the point of presenting itself as a butterfly garden. The basin is a dipping bath, not a lap pool. There is no spa or hammam on site, which is the rule for a riad of this size. Wi-Fi is the lowest score left by guests, without coming through as a real problem, and the house, still recent, books mostly through the platforms, without a fleshed-out services grid.
At this price, for a new and quiet house at the foot of the Saadian Tombs, the Riad Farasha is a safe choice - as long as you expect no spa, no lap pool, no scale of a big house. It is a pocket address, and it owns it.
