The UK network at a glance

Marrakech-Menara (RAK) has a direct link with at least 14 UK airports in 2026, a network that has thickened sharply since easyJet opened a Marrakech base in spring 2026 (three aircraft, 30 routes on Marrakech alone). Six UK carriers structure the offer: easyJet (the widest reach), Jet2 (six UK bases), Ryanair UK (five), TUI Airways, British Airways and Wizz Air UK. Add Royal Air Maroc for connections via Casablanca from any UK regional airport without a direct link.

Distance: 2,277 km (1,415 miles) London to Marrakech. Flight time typically 3 hrs 20 to 4 hrs, longer from Manchester, Edinburgh or Newcastle.

Schedule verified 21 July 2026. Airlines shift schedules, so check the airline before booking.

The UK low-cost carriers. easyJet has the widest reach and three aircraft based in Marrakech since spring 2026, so frequencies are climbing and winter routes are converting to year-round. Jet2 runs six UK bases with Manchester at three times a week from 31 March 2026, and a traditionally more generous bag allowance than the strict low-cost carriers - though the fare mix has shifted in 2025-2026 with lighter fares appearing. Ryanair UK shows the cheapest headline (from £19.99 one-way in July 2026 promos) from Stansted, four regionals and a strict gate sizer. Wizz Air UK covers London only, from Gatwick and Luton, with a small free bag and Wizz Priority for a proper cabin case.

Full-service and package. British Airways runs one weekly flight from Heathrow (the only direct LHR-RAK) and a broader schedule from Gatwick. Basic fares are hand-baggage only. Standard Euro Traveller includes a 23 kg hold bag. TUI Airways targets the package holiday: on a flight + hotel, a 20 kg hold bag is included by default (25 kg on TUI BLUE and a few others). On flight-only, hold bag is a paid add-on. Royal Air Maroc is the national carrier and mainly useful for connections via Casablanca from UK regional airports without a direct link (Aberdeen, Cardiff, East Midlands, Southampton) - about six to eight hours door-to-door.

Indicative prices by season

Fares checked July 2026 for typical 3-month lead time. Prices vary widely by day, week and lead time.

Cheapest windows for a UK reader. The autumn shoulder (mid-September to end of October, avoiding the last week of October) and the winter shoulder (mid-January to early February) are the two cheapest fare windows of the year. The weather in Marrakech is at its best over the autumn window too. February half-term coincides with lovely daytime conditions but sees fares double or triple, so book two to three months ahead.

From Ireland

Two direct carriers from Dublin (DUB): Ryanair (FR7378, Tuesdays and Fridays) and Aer Lingus (EI708, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays). Flight time 3 hrs 35 to 3 hrs 55. Fares run from about £80 to £250 return in low season and £220 to £450 in high season (Halloween mid-term, Christmas, summer).

From Cork (ORK) there is no confirmed direct in July 2026 - the passenger connects via Dublin, London Heathrow or Gatwick.

From the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand

No direct flights from the US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand to Marrakech in 2026. The main routings:

  • US and Canada: via London Heathrow or Gatwick (BA plus easyJet or TUI), via Paris Charles-de-Gaulle (Air France or Transavia France) or via Madrid (Iberia or Ryanair). West Coast US: Royal Air Maroc opened a Casablanca to Los Angeles direct from 7 June 2026, then a 30 to 45-minute leg to Marrakech.
  • Australia and New Zealand: two-stop routing via Dubai (Emirates) then Casablanca, or via Doha (Qatar Airways) then Casablanca. The point-to-point via London Heathrow (Qantas or BA) is the most common option.

Baggage rules for 2026

The low-cost carriers make more of their revenue on baggage than on base fares. A £30 ticket becomes a £120 ticket if you buy a priority bag and a hold bag at the gate. Read the rules before you compare prices.

Two nuances that don’t fit the grid:

  • TUI package vs flight-only is the biggest single decision. Package holidays include a 20 kg hold bag (25 kg on TUI BLUE, Sensatori and a few others). Flight-only fares don’t, and TUI caps individual hold bags at 25 kg, not 32 kg like the others.
  • British Airways Basic vs Standard on Marrakech routes typically shows a £30-£50 return gap. For a three to five-day trip on cabin-only, Basic works. For a couple with children or a longer stay, Standard pays for itself once you factor in the hold bag.

⚠ Baggage fees can double the ticket. Low-cost fees have overtaken the base fare on some Marrakech routes. Add cabin and hold bags to your basket before comparing prices - a £30 ticket can become a £120 ticket at the gate. easyJet: £48 at the gate for an over-sized cabin bag. Ryanair: ~£70 for anything oversized. Wizz Air: £50 to £100 at the airport for a hold bag.

SIM or eSIM for UK visitors

Since January 2021, Morocco is no longer covered by the EU Roam Like At Home rules. UK carriers price Morocco in their Rest of World zone: £7 to £7.86 per day, according to plan. Two weeks like that runs to about £100 for data alone.

Two cleaner options for a UK reader:

eSIM before you land. Airalo, Holafly, Nomad and Saily all sell Morocco plans, activated in minutes on iPhone XR onwards or a recent Pixel or Samsung. Prices from about £4 (Saily 1 GB / 7 days) to £30-£35 for unlimited over 10 days (Holafly). Nomad offers the best data-per-pound (£20 for 10 GB / 30 days).

Local SIM at Marrakech-Menara. Three carrier booths in the arrivals hall: Maroc Telecom, Orange Maroc and Inwi. Open 24/7. £8-£16 for about 20 GB with a tourist pack, passport required, five to ten minutes to activate. Maroc Telecom has the widest rural coverage if you’re heading to the Atlas or the desert.

Rule of thumb: eSIM for a stay under five days, local SIM for a week or more.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the flight from London to Marrakech?
About 3 hrs 20 to 3 hrs 40 direct, longer from Manchester, Edinburgh or Newcastle (around 4 hours). Distance is 2,277 km, or 1,415 miles.
Which UK airports have direct flights to Marrakech?
At least 14 in 2026: London Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and Southend, plus Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast, Bristol, Liverpool, Leeds Bradford and Newcastle. Verified July 2026 - the schedule shifts, so check the airline before booking.
Which airline is cheapest for London to Marrakech?
Ryanair from Stansted is typically the cheapest headline price (from £19.99 one-way in promo, July 2026), followed by easyJet from Gatwick or Luton (from about £24). Add cabin and hold bags to the basket before comparing - low-cost fees add up fast.
When are flights cheapest?
The autumn shoulder (mid-September to end of October, avoiding the last week) and the winter shoulder (mid-January to early February). Fares typically £70-£160 return low-cost from London. February half-term, Easter and Christmas are the peaks.
Is there a direct flight from the US to Marrakech?
Not in 2026. You connect via London Heathrow or Gatwick, Paris or Madrid. Royal Air Maroc opened a direct Casablanca to Los Angeles on 7 June 2026, which shortens the West Coast option with a 30 to 45-minute leg CMN to Marrakech.
Do I need a data plan for Morocco with my UK SIM?
Yes - since Brexit, Morocco is priced in the Rest of World zone at £7 to £7.86 per day depending on carrier. For a stay of more than three days, an eSIM (Airalo, Holafly, Nomad or Saily) or a local SIM at the airport is cheaper.
What baggage comes free with a low-cost fare?
Every low-cost carrier gives a small under-seat bag free (40 × 30 × 20 cm on Ryanair and Wizz Air, 45 × 36 × 20 cm on easyJet). The larger cabin case in the overhead bin and any hold bag are paid add-ons. Buy them when you book - airport prices are two to three times higher.
