The Amani plays the aparthotel format: suites in Moroccan decor, sitting corner and kitchenette for some, on avenue Mohammed VI, in Hivernage. On the roof, a small pool, a solarium and a panoramic restaurant facing the Koutoubia and the Atlas. Downstairs, a spa with hammam. Three-star at a small price, for anyone wanting space and a central address without breaking the bank.

Our verdict

At the Amani, you do not rent a room but a suite: sitting corner, often a kitchenette, in a Moroccan decor of tadelakt, arches and cedar doors. The whole takes over a pink building on avenue Mohammed VI, in Hivernage, topped by a roof that makes the whole point of the address.

Because it is up top that it all plays out. The view opens onto the Koutoubia and, on clear days, the Atlas, while the spa takes over the wellness on the floor below. For an establishment of this class, it is a lot, and it explains the place it holds with tight-budget travellers: you get space, a view and a spa for the price of a plain room elsewhere.

The flip side is that of the rate. Finishes are fair no more, furniture is generic, and upkeep uneven from one unit to another, as often in aparthotel. Most of all, avenue Mohammed VI is busy and lively in the evening: several travellers flag noise with the window open. You are in a practical and cheap address, not a character house.

The Amani speaks to travellers wanting space and a central address without paying the price: families, longer stays, counted budgets find a suite, a rooftop pool and a spa here, two steps from the Hivernage avenues. In return, you have to cope with plain finishes and the noise of a main axis. At this rate, the count adds up.

What sets it apart

  • Suites rather than rooms Units are suites: sitting corner, sometimes kitchenette, more space than a standard room of the class, in a Moroccan decor of tadelakt and arches. Useful for a longer stay.
  • Rooftop pool and restaurant The roof gathers a small pool, a solarium and a panoramic restaurant turned to the Koutoubia and the Atlas. Downstairs, a spa with hammam and massages. Rare at this rate in the quarter.
  • Central and cheap On avenue Mohammed VI, in Hivernage, within walking reach of the station and the conference quarter. Hard to find cheaper in this area, the medina staying within reach.
  • Three-star, owned Plain finishes, sometimes uneven upkeep, and a busy avenue lively in the evening. Better ask for a suite on the back rather than street side.

Worth knowing

11 rue Aboubakr Seddik, on avenue Mohammed VI, in Hivernage. The station and the conference quarter are within walking reach, Jemaa el-Fna about ten minutes by car, the airport four kilometres. About thirty suites in Moroccan decor, some with a sitting corner and kitchenette. On the roof, small pool, solarium and panoramic restaurant. Downstairs, spa with hammam and massages, café and snack. Continental breakfast included. Free Wi-Fi. Street parking. Plain place: some rooms face the avenue, noisy in the evening.
