An industrial zone that became the Marrakech design district: decor, fashion and studio ceramics in showrooms and concept stores. Sidi Ghanem is a shopping stop, not a walking one - by taxi, address by address.

History & context

Sidi Ghanem is not a tourist district: it is an industrial zone, north of the city, made up of warehouses and numbered buildings. But behind these unglamorous fronts, since the 2000s, the finest of Marrakech design has settled.

Designers - Moroccan and foreign - have opened studios and showrooms here: ceramics, tableware, textile, fashion, furniture, lighting. Away from the souk’s craftwork sold by the piece, you find signed collections, made on site for the city and for export.

You come here to shop, not to wander: this is contemporary ‘made in Marrakech’, at fixed prices, in showrooms you go through by taxi. Pick a few addresses, allow a half-morning and come on a weekday.

The souk sells the crafts. Sidi Ghanem sells the design.
