Marrakech in June: weather, temperatures and tips
Summer moves in: 34°C (93°F) by day, 18°C at night, eleven hours of sunshine and the longest days of the year. Dry heat, doable for early risers and late walkers. Fewer people than in spring, softer prices, evenings that go on.
June brings Marrakech into summer. The average high climbs to 34°C, the low to 18°C, rain disappears, and the sun shines eleven hours a day; around the 21st, the day stretches to nearly fourteen hours. Heat becomes the parameter that runs everything, but it’s dry, and the month stays workable for those who set their days around the softer hours - early morning, late evening, water and shade in between.
Marrakech weather in June
At 34°C average high and 18°C low, June is properly hot by day, still tempered at night. Dry air makes the heat more bearable than a humid one, and the coolness comes back in the evening, which saves the nights. Rain is close to nil, one day at most, and the sky stays clear.
The month isn’t spared cherguis: this hot wind from the desert can push the thermometer over 40°C for two or three days, drying the air and sometimes loading the horizon with dust. On the Atlas, snow has almost entirely gone, except on the highest peaks.

What to pack
June travels light, but with method. Light-coloured, loose and covering pieces to protect from the sun, hat, sunglasses and high-factor SPF. A water bottle refills everywhere, and you drink more than you think. Accommodation choice becomes decisive: a pool, a shaded patio or good air-conditioning transforms the stay. Without one of the three, the peak hours are long. For the evenings, a single light layer is enough.
Crowds and prices in June
June is a quieter month. Heat puts off part of the European crowd, who prefer spring or autumn, and footfall drops sharply after the May long weekends. Riad rates follow: reckon on £64-£88 a night double in a boutique riad, with midweek deals. The month’s exception is the Marrakech Comedy Festival weekend, which fills the city for a few days. What to do in Marrakech in June
June packs summer’s festival dates: the Marrakech Comedy Festival in early June in town, and the Gnaoua Festival in Essaouira at the end of the month, whose big concerts are free. In the city, the key is rhythm: medina and monuments before 11am, pool or hammam in the peak hours, and long warm evenings for rooftops and outdoor dinners, until the year’s latest sunset, around 8.40pm.
To escape the heat, two directions. The Essaouira coast, two and a half hours away, where the trade winds keep the air around 21-24°C: it’s the cool refuge of Marrakchi summers. And the mountain, the Ourika valley or the Atlas heights, where you gain several degrees and shade near the streams. The Agafay desert works mainly at sunset and by night.

June is a decent month for anyone who likes heat, the pool and days that don’t end, and who accepts organising visits around the sun. Fewer people, softer prices, long evenings: those are its arguments.
Its limit is the peak-hour heat, which calls for well-equipped accommodation and an adapted rhythm.
