The takeaway.November tips towards winter: mild by day, cool in the evening, first snow on the Atlas. Click a month to compare.

November is a pivot month: autumn high season closes, winter approaches, and the city quiets and turns affordable past mid-month. The average high drops to 23°C, the low to 11°C, and evenings recover a real coolness. It’s, with March, the wettest month of the year - showers are short, followed by clearer weather - and the one when the Atlas takes on its first snow, visible again from the terraces.

Marrakech weather in November

At 23°C average high and 11°C low, November keeps mild pleasant days in the sun, but the evenings cool sharply, especially in the second half of the month. The day-night gap widens again, around twelve degrees, a sign winter is settling.

It’s one of the two wettest months of the year, with 30 mm over six to seven days, in sometimes stormy but often brief showers. On the High Atlas, the first snow usually lands in November, and the white peaks turn visible again from city terraces on clear days.

What to pack

November calls for a proper autumn case. Light clothes for midday, a real warm layer - jumper and jacket - for morning and evening and something for a shower, windproof jacket or foldable umbrella. Riad heating becomes useful again late in the month, especially if you feel the cold. Swimming needs a heated pool, unheated water dropping to around 16-18°C. Closed shoes for the medina, sometimes slippery after rain, round out the case.

Crowds and prices in November

November comes in two acts. Until mid-month, high season carries on, with the tail of the autumn half-term and steady footfall: rates stay high, around £80-£112 a night double in a boutique riad. After mid-November, footfall drops and rates with it, down to £56-£76. One notable exception: the International Film Festival, in late November, tightens central accommodation for a week. For the best price-weather balance, the second half of the month is ideal. To compare, see our riads.

What to do in Marrakech in November

Late November, the Marrakech International Film Festival screens films for free in the open air on Jemaa el-Fna, in the evening: one of the month’s most memorable experiences, open to all subject to seat availability. By day, the weather suits walking - medina, gardens, palaces, museums - and the autumn light, low and warm in late afternoon, brings the ochre of the walls forward.

On day trips, November is a green, quiet season. The Ourika valley and the Ouzoud waterfalls benefit from the autumn rains, and the Atlas starts to whiten. The Agafay desert works well by day, but nights under canvas cool: check the camp’s heating. The Essaouira coast stays doable, with a sea at 20°C and a wind that chills the feel.

Our verdict on November

November plays out after mid-month: a window we like, with a still-mild daytime climate, prices coming down, a quiet city and an Atlas snowy again. Before mid-month, you still pay the high-season rate.

You need to cope with the showers - the year’s most frequent - and cool evenings that call for heated accommodation.

For quiet and low prices with cold nights, December takes over; the month-by-month picture is on our best time to visit.
