The PL Place is closer to a retreat than a hotel: only nine rooms, tucked in a dense Palmeraie garden, around a pool and a domed pavilion. The heavily decorated suites play caidal tents, patina and lanterns, each with its green corner. An intimate, densely decorated address, for cutting off from the city rather than visiting it.
Our verdict
The PL Place does not look like a hotel, and that is the point. It is a small house of nine rooms, tucked in a dense Palmeraie garden, where the vegetation almost closes over the pool and the domed pavilion at the centre. You feel more in a private property than in an establishment, and the address indeed presents itself as a retreat. The large rooms are treated one by one as sets: caidal tents stretched to the ceiling, patina walls, chiselled lanterns, salvaged furniture, several opening onto their own garden corner. It is theatrical, romantic, and clearly built for two.
The house covers the stay in its own way, at the scale of a small address. A pool, open year-round, stretches through the green. A spa offers treatments and massages. A table and a bar save going out, and an airport shuttle smooths the arrival. Service, necessarily personal in a nine-room house, and the setting come top of the comments, for a very high score, on a review count still limited since the address is recent. This is the register of the small polished retreat, where you are welcomed almost as a private guest.
The limits come with the format. The house is small, so books up fast, and does not have the facilities of a large hotel: no hammam on site, a spa reduced to treatments and massages. The heavily loaded decor is a stance that will please those after mood and leave those wanting bare elegance cold. And you are in the Palmeraie: the PL Place lives as a destination in itself, not as a springboard to the medina, and each outing in town means a car trip.
The PL Place is chosen for a green pause for two, in a decor that tells a story: a garden, a pool, character suites and the quiet of the Palmeraie. You give up scale, the hammam and closeness to the souks. You gain intimacy and a rare calm. For a romantic stay off the noise, it is a class apart in the Palmeraie.

No hammam on site.
