A twenty-five-metre pool with lane markings, only six suites, and a padel court whose name has crept into the commercial banner. At km 11 of the Ourika road, Les Sources de l'Atlas is a large ochre villa that receives few guests at once, and that its clients rate very high.
Our verdict
Let us start with what the name promises and the house does not quite deliver. “Padel” appears in the commercial banner, right after “Palais”. You picture a club, courts, slots. There is one court, only one. The site writes it singular in all its languages. It does not rent by the hour. It does not appear on any padel booking platform. And the only priced way to play without staying overnight is a day package for a minimum of four. The real padel club of the area is one kilometre away, on the same road. If you book for the racket, book elsewhere. If you book for the rest, the court is a bonus, not an argument.
Everything else is better than that promise. It is a large ochre two-storey villa, arcades, green tiles, planted in a garden of palms, cypress and orange trees. In front of it, a twenty-five-metre pool with lanes drawn on the bottom - the detail counts: on this road, pools are blue rectangles made for the photo and the dip, this one is made for swimming. On the lawn, a hot tub set right on the grass, no cabin around. And white-curtained daybeds at the water’s edge. It is a rental-villa decor more than a hotel one, which it probably was originally. But we found nothing on its history: no founder, no date, no architect.
Six suites, Andalusian in style, from eighteen to forty-eight square metres, each with a terrace, twelve people in all. That is few, and it explains the rest: at 9.8 out of 10, the welcome is the best-rated of the seven addresses of this road we tracked, and the whole holds at 9.1. Booking gave it a Traveller Review Award in March 2026. A spa, a hammam, scrubs, a Moroccan restaurant round out the picture, without any treatment rate published - you have to call, as almost everywhere here.
Three things deserve your attention before you click. Wi-Fi, first: it is the lowest score, 7.5, well below the rest, and clients explain why. It is fast in the main house and by the pool, weak in the rooms. On a broad estate, that is logical. Against a promise of free Wi-Fi “throughout the property”, it is a gap. Then the shuttle: Booking shows “free airport shuttle”, and that is likely a data-entry error, since all other sources charge it. Do not count on it. Finally the weddings: the house rents its spaces for events, and with only six suites, a celebration cannot be sidestepped. It falls on you or it does not happen. Your dates are worth confirming before anything else.
The pool, on the other hand, holds the only real unknown. No one says whether it is heated, and twenty-five metres of cold water in January is an argument that evaporates. Half the address’s interest goes with it. One call settles the question, and it is worth it. For two people wanting to swim, settle in and be well received eleven kilometres from the medina - a trip paid in taxis as with every pool hotel of the area - it is a very good address. For playing padel, no.
What sets it apart
- A pool where you actually swim Twenty-five metres, with lanes drawn on the bottom. On a road where pools are blue squares for photos, this one is sized for lengths. Not the same use nor the same pleasure.
- Six suites, twelve people, no more Andalusian, from eighteen to forty-eight square metres, each with its terrace, and twelve people at most on the estate. The welcome scores 9.8 out of 10: on the seven addresses of this road we tracked, none does better on that mark.
- The hot tub in the open garden Set on the lawn, between palms and orange trees, no cabin or tiling around. It is more pleasant than the closed-spa version, and useful when the large pool is too cold.
Worth knowing
Km 11, route de l'Ourika, Tassoultante commune, about 11 kilometres from Jemaa el-Fna and 20 to 25 minutes by road. Six suites, from 18 to 48 m², twelve people at most. 25-metre pool. Heating not confirmed anywhere, ask if you come between December and February. Hot tub, spa, hammam, scrubs and massages. No treatment rates published. One padel court, no hourly rental. Moroccan restaurant on site. Day packages for non-residents, pool and lunch, one with padel and one with massage. Rates circulating date back to 2024, have them confirmed. Free Wi-Fi advertised throughout, but clients say fast in the main house and by the pool, weaker in the rooms - the lowest score, 7.5. Warning: Booking lists a 'free airport shuttle'. No other source confirms it, all others charge it. Assume the transfer is paid unless the house says otherwise. The estate hosts weddings and private events. With six suites, a private booking concerns you. Ask for your dates. Announced prices from £132 to £179 a night depending on the platform. No official star rating. Pets not welcome.
