The Valeria Madina Club is not a Marrakech hotel, it is an all-inclusive resort set on the edge of the Palmeraie, at Bab Atlas, on the Fès road. You reach it by car or taxi, fifteen to twenty minutes from Jemaa el-Fna: the medina and the souks are not at the door, they are reached on an organised trip or a taxi ride that has to be planned every time. The address, run by the Spanish Valeria chain and marketed by season under other club banners, plays a simple and owned card: 432 rooms, broad gardens, several pools and entertainment from morning to evening. Rooms, spread across low buildings, mostly open onto the garden, with a balcony or terrace, air conditioning and standard club kit. Here you do not look for the character of a riad or the calm of a human-scale house, but volume and a package that caps the spending.

The real strength lies in the water park and in water in general. Slides, river, large basins and endless sun loungers: for families with children, enough to fill whole days without ever crossing the gate. Around, all-inclusive unrolls its programme - meals and drinks included, aquagym, water polo, tournaments and staged evenings - in a holiday-village spirit rather than a city stay. The animation team fills the day and livens the evening, in an owned family-club register that pleases some and tires others. Catering runs around a main buffet, a poolside snack and bars where drinks are included, coffee and terrace on the side. The spa and the hammam round out the picture, with massages and sauna, some treatments still extra. A tennis court, a fitness room and a kids’ club close the programme of a stay built to stand on its own. It is readable, well drilled, and lands right for anyone booking exactly that profile: a seaside-style holiday without the sea, at a contained price, children busy and budget known upfront.

That leaves the score, and it has to be said plainly: 6.7 on Booking, on more than 1,200 reviews, is low, and the lowest of the great clubs in this series. Complaints come back too often to ignore. Catering draws the criticism - a buffet repetitive across days, limited choice, freshness and quality judged uneven from one service to another. Upkeep follows: dated rooms and bathrooms, cracked tiling, worn or rusted taps, tired seals, and repair requests sometimes unanswered. Several travellers report having to change rooms for these reasons. Cleanliness of common areas is also flagged by some travellers. On the other hand, staff do better in the returns, entertainment holds its role and the quantity-price ratio on the activities is rarely challenged. You also have to cope with a few practical constraints: no parking on site, and an outlying location that means a taxi for every outing to town. Put plain, you pay the price of a large budget club, and you get the level: generous on space and activities, fragile on the table and the upkeep. From around £60 a night full board, it is one of the most accessible all-inclusive packages in Marrakech, to book knowingly - for a family all-in budget, without expecting the comfort of a fresher 4-star.
